While responsible government, medical, scientific, business, educational, and religious leaders encouraged measures to prevent the deadly spread of COVID-19, Donald Trump repeatedly mocked and disparaged these efforts. He continually “downplayed” the severity of the virus and contributed to its spread by hosting and encouraging large gatherings with few protective masks and zero social distancing.
