Malcolm Nance calls the Syrian airfield bombing an exercise in collusion and failure:
“We literally warned the Russians that we were going to strike the base. The Russians warned the Syrians. They left the base. We only struck, as I understand, maybe 6 – 20 aircraft. Those ancient aircraft (when I was a young baby spy) – those aircraft were old. They will now be replaced with new, state of the art Russian fighter aircraft with a much bigger capacity, and the last thing, that’s worse, that I think makes this mission failure: we did not strike the chemical weapons. We didn’t destroy them.”
